Who am I?
That is a common question of soul searching and trying to figure things out. No one really knows who they are. We think we know, but in reality, everyone sees everyone differently, so, you may see me differently than Fred does. With that said, this is who I think I am:
My name is Andrew. I am a 21 year old college student studying Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Economics. I go to the University of Colorado Boulder. Being born and raised 10 minutes north of Boulder was great, and as you can see, I have not left ( I even still live at home with mom and dad!(it makes sense, from an economic standpoint)) …yet.
I am an avid skier, skiing something like 80 days a year. The concept of flying blows my mind. Sitting in a metal tube 7 miles up, going 550 MPH while drinking a beer and surfing the internet is a pretty crazy thought. Appreciate it instead of complaining about it. Speaking of complaining, that’s not cool. Embrace everything and enjoy it. In reality, it can be a lot worse.
I am a big dreamer. T.E. Lawrence said “All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.” I live pretty strictly by this statement. Dreams are meant to be lived, so why not live them? I have had some crazy dreams over the years including school buses, brewing booze in the college dorms and getting naked more than most people would like, amongst other things. I want to live life to the fullest, and my biggest fear is not doing exactly that.
Getting fat over the culinary wonders of other countries in the world is awesome. Culture is the reason why I go places. This includes food. I love food. No matter what, food is worth splurging for, no matter where you go. I also feel that good food does not have to be expensive, similar to good wine. When I go places, it is all about the culture, because culture leads to the reasoning and backing behind the tourist sights that many travel the world to see. One of my fondest memories was drinking a beer with the caretaker of a campsite in Zimbabwe. A simple beer taught me so much, that I never would have experienced or known about. This conversation made Africa my favorite trip of my life.
Other things to know is I am pretty sarcastic, and don’t really care what people think of me, within reason of course. I say things the way they are, no sugar coating necessary. With that, my goal is to give you very transparent blog posts here. I am going to take you through my journeys in the travel world; whether they be the how I did something or what I did. With that I have a request: I like criticism. please tell me what you want to see here, what will help you. This is for you, so take advantage of it.
